本日は世界の主なプラチナ鉱山会社の中で、NY証券取引所に上場している企業について書きます。

1. 主要なプラチナ鉱山会社
世界の主なプラチナ鉱山会社は以下です。
・インパラプラチナム ホールディングス リミテッド
・シバニェ・スティルウォーター・リミテッド (SBSW)

プラチナ産出の7割は南アフリカであることから、南アフリカの会社が多いです。
この中でニューヨーク証券取引所に預託証券の形で上場している企業があります。
それは、シバニェ・スティルウォーター・リミテッド (SBSW) です。
2. SBSWとは
白金族金属を主に生産している企業であり、世界的な独立系貴金属鉱山会社です。

採掘金属のうち、プラチナの割合は50%を占めています。
次にパラジウムが多く42%、ロジウムが7%です。

ちなみに、上記4種類以外にルテニウムやイリジウムも採掘しています。
(ただし、同社のアメリカグループでは、ルテニウムやイリジウムを採掘していないので、グループ全体としてプラチナ、パラジウム、ロジウム、金の4種類の割合のみ算出されていました)
金鉱株についてはまだまだリサーチ中ですが、こんなに白金族金属の採掘割合が多い企業は少数でしょう。
※白金族金属とは下図の青枠線内の金属を指します (44ルテニウム、45ロジウム、46パラジウム、76オスミウム、77イリジウム、78プラチナ)。
貴金属は上図のグレー枠線内の金属を一般的に指します (白金族金属+金、銀)。
しかし、その定義はやや曖昧なところもあり、銅や水銀を含む場合もあるそうです。
ちなみに貴金属以外の金属を「卑金属」といいます。
3. SBSWを買う注意点 (採掘割合にパラジウムも多い)
SBSWはプラチナとパラジウムをほぼ同等の割合で採掘しております。
パラジウムは自動車の排気浄化触媒としての需要が多いのですが、安いプラチナが代替される可能性があります (このページの下の方に記事を貼っています)。
プラチナとパラジウムのそれぞれの価格を考慮する必要があり、SBSWの株価が将来的に上がるとは限りません。
4. 最後に
鉱山会社の財務は貴金属価格に大きく左右されるため、商品 (貴金属) の価格によって業績が変わるというリスクを想定しておかなければならないです。
